Reflectors compact fluorescents are a great replacement for regular light bulbs with similar light output. They generally use less energy and last longer. The spiral compact fluorescent also uses a phosphorous coating to allow many different color temperatures from warm white to daylight.
Screw in Compact Fluorescent bulbs have an integrated ballast. Which means the transformer to light the bulb is already built into the unit. Just replace the incandescent, or old compact fluorescent light bulb and screw in the new one.
