High Pressure Sodium ballasts are usually rated by an ANSI code. The most common ANSI codes for High Pressure Sodium ballasts are: S76, S68, S62, S54, S55, S66, S50, S51, S52. Standard high pressure sodiums are known for their yellowish color and long (24000 hours) life. Ballasts for lighting applications are simply transformers to provide the right voltage and current mix to the gases inside the light bulb. They are commonly used in commercial applications for street lighting, wall packs and floodlights, fluorescent strip lights and recessed troffers.
